Synopsis

When graduate student Liang Xia falls asleep after working himself to death in the lab, he awakens in another world—reborn as a starving, dying orphan on the brink of death.

In this world, magic shines brilliantly and magical beasts roam the land. His only possessions are a frail body and an empty stomach.

Adapting to his new life, he gives himself the name Kozey. There is no cheat system, no ancient master to guide him. All he has is a rudimentary form of “spiritual perception,” seemingly a final gift from his previous world. With it, he learns the basics of hunting from villagers and slowly fights to reclaim his right to survive.

He hunts. He trades. He builds a merchant guild alongside traveling merchants. Every copper coin is earned through hard work and risk.

His goal is crystal clear:

Save enough money to enter a magic academy and attain the legendary “comfortable life of a mage.”

As long as he's full and well-fed, life is comfortable.

Getting into a magic academy will make life truly comfortable.

Graduating from the academy? That will be really, truly, absolutely comfortable.

Help! Chinese education is still chasing me across worlds!

Yet when he finally steps through the academy gates and nurtures his first seedling of magic, a new desire begins to burn within him—

This world has no video games.

No movies.

No hot pot.

Damn it!

I've already invented fast food. Spicy crayfish is a thing now. Even magical beasts are being raised through modern farming methods. I've earned more than enough money.

So when am I finally going to get the peaceful life I wanted?

What? You want movies and video games too?

Fine. Time to work a little harder. The road ahead is still long.

And wait—

Fifth-years have to take a final mage examination?

Then it looks like I'll have to set out on another adventure after all.

What do you think?
